What to Expect at Inspire Academy of Music

Weekly, 30-minute sessions

There is no better method than having one on one, student-teacher attention. That is why at Inspire, we keep your day of the week and 30-minute time slot specified only for you. Arriving a few minutes early assures a prompt start time. This is key to making the most of every minute with your instructor. Late arrivals, though better than nothing, diminish the momentum that can be established with a full 30-minute lesson.

Location

All lessons are currently offered at our clean, modern studio located at 1574 154th Ave. NW, Andover, MN 55304. For more information regarding directions, click HERE

Curriculum

Curriculum is chosen by the teacher and is modified to fit each student exactly where they’re at in their progress. Books can be purchased from the academy.

Homework

Practice at home is expected and ranges in frequency and duration, depending on the progress of the student. The teacher will give your child detailed instructions on how to accomplish weekly tasks and what is expected of them between weekly lessons.

Missed Lessons & Cancellations

If a student misses a regularly scheduled lesson for any reasons (illness, emergency, weather, schedule conflict, etc.), students will have the option to register for a group makeup lesson. There are no individual makeup lesson offered at this time.

If a teacher misses a lesson, a qualified substitute music teacher will be there to teach your student's lesson in their place, just as in a regular school classroom. This guarantees your student's lesson will stay at the same day and time.

In the event of inclement weather, Inspire Academy classes will be cancelled if the Anoka-Hennepin School District cancels after school activities. Students affected by such a cancellation will be notified. Lessons missed due to weather may be made up through group makeup lessons.

Equipment

Use of a personal instrument is required to begin learning any instrument. Students will need their own instrument to practice on at home. The instructor can give specific information on where to rent or purchase instruments, and what qualities are required for success.

Recitals

We offer 2 performance opportunities a year, which helps the student work toward a goal, and then celebrate an amazing accomplishment once completed. It’s a great experience of lifting each other up and inspiring other students to keep pushing!
